The New Mexico Interfaith Dialogue will be having an in-person dialogue on Thursday September 17th, 7:00 to 8:30 pm, at Metropolitan Community Church, located, 1103 Texas St NE, Albuquerque NM 87110. Our speaker will be Rev. Paul Anway.  We look forward to an engaging dialogue about ” I am a member of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Church, which ministers to the LGBTQIA+ community and this is what I would like people to know about my faith.”

Rev. Paul Anway

Rev. Paul Anway was ordained in 1998 by the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC). After 11 years as a church pastor, he became a hospice chaplain in 2008. He now serves as a Clinical Chaplain with Presbyterian Hospice and is Board Certified through the Association of Professional Chaplains.

Rev. Anway holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of South Florida and a Master of Divinity from Florida Center for Theological Studies. He moved to Albuquerque more than ten years ago and shares a home with his sister and their guard dog, Tyler.

He currently serves MCC Albuquerque as Interim Spiritual Leader. Last September, MCCA celebrated 50 years of ministry to the LGBTQIA+ community. The church also helped launch Albuquerque’s first Pride celebration, when 25 people marched from the church down Central Avenue to a park on the UFMCC campus.

The Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (UFMCC) was founded in 1968 by Rev. Troy Perry, a gay Pentecostal minister who had been defrocked. Rev. Perry believed God had called him to start a church for LGBTQIA+ people, and UFMCC became a beacon of hope for those excluded from or pushed out of their churches. Over time, UFMCC expanded its mission to help society more fully integrate sexuality and spirituality.
