Monthly Meeting March 2022

The New Mexico Interfaith Dialogue will be having a meeting on Zoom on Thursday March 17th, 7:00 pm -8:30 pm. Our speaker will be Dr. Lynn E. Wilcox. Dr. Wilcox and Dr. Saloumeh Bozorgzadeh who will be speaking on Tamarkoz: Coping with Covid.

This dialogue will include a lecture as well as a Tamarkoz relaxation and visualization exercise.

Lynn E. Wilcox received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri. Professor Emeritus at CSU, Sacramento, she co-founded the Women’s Study Program and taught courses on Meditation, Stress Reduction, and the Spiritual Dimension in Psychotherapy. Since 1984, she has taught Tamarkoz® (Sufi Meditation) workshops and classes around the world. A well-known speaker and founder of the Sufi Psychology Association, she is author of four books and numerous articles related to Islam and Sufism, including Women & the Holy Qur’an: A Sufi Perspective. Her book Sufism and Psychology has been translated into Bosnian, Turkish, and Malaysian.

Dr. Saloumeh Bozorgzadeh

Dr. Saloumeh Bozorgzadeh is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to running a wellness center and group practice, she provides wellness programs for medical residents and healthcare professionals. She is the current President of the Sufi Psychology Association and the founder of the Caring 4 Our Caregivers initiative which donates stress relieving wellness resources to healthcare professionals and hospitals. She has authored two textbook chapters, one for nursing and the other psychology. Her experiences include workshops, retreats, teaching higher education, supervising clinicians, and international presentations including one given at the World Congress of Psychotherapy at the United Nations in 2017. She was the recipient of the NBC5 Making a Difference Award and was featured in American Healthcare Leader. Dr. Saloumeh was the recipient of a 3-year Templeton Foundation research grant to study the effects of Sufi Psychotherapy and is the Principal Investigator of another study examining the benefits of the Tamarkoz® Sufi meditation method, which she uses when working with oncology patients and healthcare staff.
